AbstractThrough a reading of the South Sudanese independence ceremony as a ritual of statehood, I show how state actors in South Sudan declared and performed their claim to sovereignty in the face of extraordinary challenge. Central to their performance was their rendering of a national chronotope and their assertion of what I call rebel sovereignty: their articulation of themselves as both saviours from oppression and legitimate wielders of state power. State actors' equal appeal to local antipathy to centralised power and international norms of statehood, as well as their performative redefinition of international undermining as partnership, demonstrates the necessity of contemporary sovereign performance to define both the content and context of extant political realities. More broadly, the ritual demonstrates the performative basis of sovereignty and the increasing necessity of sovereign aspirants to acknowledge the impossibility of sovereign control and redefine challenges and critiques of this power as they assert it.

The paper discusses ground state correlations (GSC) in nuclei, which are especially clearly manifested when using the formalism of quantum Green's functions (FG) and Feynman diagrams. In addition to one-particleone-hole GSC, which appear in the well known random phase approximation method (RPA), there exist and give a noticeable quantitative contribution THE GSCs resulting from the use of configurations that are more complex than in RPA. Namely, configurations containing phonons and configurations containing only three quasiparticles, respectively, the GSC-phon and GSC3. This last case of GSC3 is considered in detail in the present paper. It is shown that GSC3 make a significant quantitative contribution IN THE problems related to the explanation of some characteristics of low-lying excited states (phonons) and transitions between them in even-even nuclei.

The First Conference of Independent African States, attended by representatives of the independent states of western and northern Africa (Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, Libya, Morocco, the Sudan, Tunisia, and the United Arab Republic), was held in Accra, Ghana, from April 15 to 22, 1958. The purpose of the conference was: 1) to discuss problems of common interest; 2) to formulate and coordinate methods aimed at accelerating mutual understanding; 3) to consider means of safeguarding the independence and sovereignty of participating countries and of assisting dependent African territories in their efforts toward the attainment of self-government; and 4) to plan cultural exchanges and mutual assistance schemes.

The article describes the grounds and conditions of independent directors incorporation in the boards of directors of state participating companies. The results of independent directors elections in their boards are analyzed. A number of variants of independent directors de-facto status are shown. The conditions for realizing advantages of independent directors involvement as compared with public servants from the perspective of developing the effective system of corporate governance are identified.
